For the guru's how in the hell do you reinstall sims 2 when you already have sims 3 on your system>? It keeps trying to install data into sims 3 files instead of creating a folder for sims 2 TSData I think is what it said. If I need to go back and get the exact error let me know.

Or is it you can not have both on the same system? I was reinstalling it so I could get some info for the Project here and the fact I decided I want to play it now then again!

Thanks for the help in advance.

(An error occurred when trying to transfer the file "TSData\Res\Sims3D\CASFacepackage" from the media)

Why in the hell is it going to sims3 for sims 2 CAS?

I've got them both in my system. Don't know enough about it to know why you are having problems. You should have an EA folder and and Electronic Arts folder though.
Some days are really after you... if they don't get you... the idiots will...ROFL!

I do have EA folder, I have more than just sims for EA. I do not know why it is trying to install the sims2 files in the sims3 folder.

With my luck I will have to uninstall 3 to install 2 then reinstall 3 GRR...

I have both on my system with no problem.

You should have an "EA games" folder for sims2 and a separate "Electronic Arts" folder for sims3. They need to be in two different folders.

According to the error, there is a problem with your cd/dvd. Check it for hair/smudges.

Before My computer went haywire a while back it was fine, But, I had sims 2 installed first. This time I decided to wait to put sims 2 back and now I am having the issue. I will go and create a sims 2 folder with the rest and see if that fixes it. Hopefully it did not mess up sims 3.

Zaleth, I agree with Sleepy - it's just a problem with your disc. It has nothing to do with Sims3 since the error says it occurred when trying to transfer a Sims3D package, not a Sims3 package.

The issue I have is why its happening since its sims 2 I am trying to install. There is nothing wrong with the disk because I was able to install it on the lap top though I can not play it there. I swear my computer hates me at times!

The Disk is for sims 2 not 3 just in case I was not clear. I am just really frustrated!

First the error has nothing at all to do with sims 3.

"TSData\Res\Sims3D\CASFacepackage"

Is not Sims 3, which you are reading into it. It is saying the Sims3D directory, which is a legitimate Sims 2 directory. Your CD is not able to read the disk, irrespective of if you can install it on another machine. If you have an Optical drive cleaning disk, now would be a good time to use it.

You could try copying the entire disk to the HD temporarily, and running the install from there.

I did not think of that Trif...I will have hubby look at the drive when he gets home, I have two drives but my other one is having door issues..It sticks and won't open.

**Fixed I used a straight pin to open up the drive that the door is stuck, got it to install! So far all the other xps have installed via the other drive with no issue. Of course I feel like a dork for not figuring it out in the first place but, several days of little sleep and a house full of people will do that, just sent the last of the kids off for two weeks before 2 come back and then my oldest and his family will be back at the end of august living with us till they find a place down here.....

Thanks for the help guys and sorry for not picking up on what you were saying this morning,,,,

That file is ALWAYS a problem. Why? as I recal it is 2 gig in size. That is why copying the contents of the cd to the HD lets it work, the HD will not time out reading the huge file.
